West Kingsdown is a village and civil parish on the A20 in the Sevenoaks district of Kent, England, 5 miles (8 km) southeast of Swanley, 5.5 miles (9 km) northeast of Sevenoaks, and 22.5 miles (36.2 km) northeast of London.

Kingsdown, the former name of West Kingsdown village, can be traced back to Anglo-Saxon settlements in the Darenth Valley forests. Farmers carved large swaths of land for arable agriculture. The term, ‘the King’s personal hill pasture,’ was also offered by the Saxons. There is evidence that the parish church, St Edmund King and Martyr, was built in the Saxon style. Following the Norman Conquest in 1066, it appears that Edward the Confessor controlled Kingsdown, which came into the hands of William I.

The Brands Hatch motor racing circuit is located on the north side of West Kingsdown, just off the A20. The circuit was first utilised as a grass track for bike riding in 1926, and the first race there was held in 1928 — a competition between competitors riding bicycles and cross-country runners. Between 1964 and 1986, the track featured Formula One racing, and it now hosts significant motorsport events throughout the year. Brands Hatch hosted the Paralympic Games road cycling in 2012.
